so this happened yesterday:
mr happy-go-lucky squirrel was running up the power pole, oblivious to any dangers that may be in his path.

meanwhile, sitting atop the pole, watching every move he made, was a red-tailed hawk. i call him ethan. ethan hawk. BOL

when mr squirrel had nearly reached the top, ethan was not feeling as carefree as mr squirrel and he let mr squirrel know the top of the pole was his domain and he was in no mood to share it.

as i watched with bated breath, (i absolutely did not want to be witness to ethan having squirrel for breakfast) mr squirrel froze for a moment at the sight of ethan, then made a quick 180,

and scurried back down the pole, with ethan still watching his every move. disaster averted. whew!

at casa chihuahua, every day is dog day, but yesterday the country took it national! while your pup is being lavished with extra hugs and kisses, let’s not forget about the dogs that are sitting in shelters, lonely and scared, just waiting to be adopted. if you are looking to add to your family, please consider adoption. please don’t buy, while others die.

bee flew back to brooklyn earlier this week and life at casa chihuahua has returned to normal. extra beds have been put away and gates have been taken down. what gates? well...

bee is a very easy going dog but she can be a little territorial when food is involved. because of that, the girls had to be separated during every meal.

i used to call this "sit up" but she puts her hands up so high, it looks like she’s being held at gunpoint. so i changed it to "stick 'em up."

i don’t know why i made her do this on the sofa. but with a little help balancing from hubby, she was still able to do it.

bee thinks our california sunshine is pure heaven. unfortunately we are still having a heat wave so her time outside is strictly monitored.

a visit to the vet

bee is probably wondering what the heck kind of summer vacation is this! daughter #2 had made a vet appointment to have bee’s teeth cleaned & a pawdicure while she was here ...

and doc ended up having to extract 3 teeth. poor bee.

this past weekend, we had brunch at the very dog-friendly BBCM (on sunset blvd in west hollywood) and bailey was the perfect little patron. actually, she is always on her best behavior when we go out to eat.

she sat calmly and quietly while we enjoyed our delicious meal and our flight of mimosas!

it’s exhausting being such a good girl.

bee has returned for her summer vacation!

we drove out to santa monica over the weekend and made a quick pit stop at palisades park to get a few pictures of bailey overlooking the pacific ocean. we were short on time, so after i got a couple of shots, we were on our way. mission accomplished.

every time i look at bailey’s little face, i can’t help but smile. knowing where she’s been and how far she’s come, is a testament to her strength and her will to survive. and though she be but little, she is fierce.

question: has anyone been having an issue with fleas this summer? bailey literally never has fleas but i’ve been combing 2-3 off of her practically every day. i asked our local groomer about them and she said they have noticed an increase of fleas this year and the flea treatments don’t seem to be working on them. have y’all been having a problem with fleas?
