pillow hog

does your dog sleep under the blankets and on a pillow, like a person? bailey does. and notice how she has hogged my pillow. somehow, during the night, she manages to push me off and take my entire pillow for herself! i don't know how this happens. she's only 4 pounds. why does she need my entire pillow? BOL

this month we are lucky enough to be reviewing two items from the fab people at chewy.com. last week, we reviewed chicken soup for the soul savory snacks. this week we are giving nutro limited ingredient diet grain-free adult fish & potato recipe canned dog food a try.

we are also lucky enough to have aoife here to model for us and to give us a second opinion. if i don't hurry and give this sample to aoife, i think her eyes are gonna fall out of her head! BOL

"NOM NOM"

at first i just gave them a taste. because it's loaf style and harder to lick off a plate (bailey flattens it to the bowl) i gave it to them with a spoon.

then at dinnertime, i topped their food with little dollops and both girls gobbled it up.

this product is especially good for aoife because it is "designed for dogs with food sensitivities."
also, it contains NO chicken, dairy, beef, corn, wheat or soy.
it is a limited ingredient food with fish as the first ingredient.

we had some exciting news over the weekend ...
daughter #2 got engaged!
her fiancé popped the question on thursday night with a romantic evening in brooklyn and then he surprised her with a whirlwind trip home (to california) so we could all share in their joy together.

so as you can see, we are reviewing chicken soup for the soul savory snacks dog treats, beef flavor, sent to us from the wonderful folks at chewy.com. they are dog treats made right here in the usa with beef as the first ingredient. they are heart-shaped soft treats that are made without any corn, wheat, soy, artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or by-product meals.

be careful with these though, they are 8 calories per treat! that can add up pretty quick so bailey only gets one treat a day. everyday when i have my afternoon coffee (my treat, BOL), bailey gets her treat. it's our favorite time of the day.

mind your manners

looking through my pictures of aoife's visits, i noticed a pattern.
do you see it?

bailey steps out in front of aoife so she is sure to get the first treat! and poor aoife sits so patiently behind her. now bailey, when we have aoife over as our guest, it's only polite to let company have the first treat. mind your manners.

easter 2017

half the fun of taking pictures of bailey, is laughing at the outtakes. and i end up with a lot of outtakes. it definitely is a challenge to get a good shot of her, but it's worth it in the end.

she was hamming it up on these next few shots and then she just went goofy. BOL

gone with the wind

in february we had baby hummingbirds. and just 9 days after those birds left, i found another egg in the nest, and 5 days after that, a second egg appeared.

sunday mommy bird stepped up her feeding. she kept coming and with each feeding the baby 1 would flutter and test out his wings.

10 april

he would even fly out of the nest and back in again.

he left monday morning leaving baby 2 alone.

mommy came back to continue feeding baby 2 that monday but on tuesday, she never came back. i had been hearing a chirping all morning and when i went out to investigate, i noticed it was baby 2! she was calling her mommy, but mommy never came. she was hungry and all i could do was hope mommy would show up. it broke my heart to hear her chirping for food and not being able to help.



i ran back in the house to grab my still camera and when i came back outside i found her on our swing cushion, still calling for her mommy and still getting no response.

11 april

the eggs came almost a week apart, so even though they hatched one day apart, i felt baby 2 was much younger. i'm positive that if mommy had come to feed baby 2, she would have stayed in the nest a couple more days, growing a little more and doing her practice flights, like her sibling. i'm confident that baby 1 was ready to leave and is enjoying life in this crazy world but i pray for baby 2.
and then, in the blink of an eye, she flew over our fence and was gone with the wind. stay safe little one. godspeed.
