pop goes the question

we had some exciting news over the weekend ...
daughter #2 got engaged!
her fiancé popped the question on thursday night with a romantic evening in brooklyn and then he surprised her with a whirlwind trip home (to california) so we could all share in their joy together.

daughter #2 shares a special moment
with bailey before she heads back to new york.

"borrowed" pictures

daughter #1 & her husband had a weekend getaway at big bear lake and of course they took aoife with them.

this was aoife's first encounter with snow! they tell me she handled it quite well. it looks like she didn't mind it at all.

you can put aoife anywhere for a picture and she'll stay put.

aoife enjoyed her weekend in the mountains and as you can see the weather was just perfect.

photo credit goes to daughter #1. i have these pictures because i "borrowed" them from her instagram account. shh, don't tell her. BOL

my grand doggie is a conehead

my poor grand doggie thought she was coming to california for a relaxing christmas holiday. little did she know what daughter #2 had in store for her. she had an appointment with our wonderful dr w to get spayed. we really wouldn't trust any other vet to cut into our doggies. {shame on her previous owner for never taking care of this.}

daughter #2 had also noticed a lump near bee's nether regions and brought it to her previous owners attention some time ago but she never did anything about it. when dr w had a look at her, he said it was a hernia! {ugh! some people just shouldn't have a dog.} since bee was getting spayed, dr w also took care of her hernia. her recuperation time doubled with the second surgery, but she'll be able to go back to new york without a worry.

just a thought: if you aren't going to be a responsible pet owner, please don't get a pet.

a new member of the family

daughter #2 has just adopted a little girl ... dog! her ex-roommate was looking to re-home her dog, so daughter #2 offered to take her. she is an adorable 9 year old chihuahua/rat terrier mix, named bee. she is full of energy and doesn't act a day over 2. isn't she a cutie? i can't wait for bailey to meet her!

welcome to the family bee!

so where's the mischief? well, i now have a 2nd grand doggie. i will be causing the mischief by all the spoiling she will be getting from me. BOL

thanks to alfie's blog, my brown newfies & snoopy's dog blog for hosting monday mischief blog hop.

dogs leave pawprints on your heart

when aoife was a teeny baby (like this)...

my daughter inked up her paw and stamped it on a piece of paper. she reduced the size a bit, took it to a tattoo artist, and had eef's paw tattooed on her footsie. so her doggie really did leave pawprints on her heart...
and foot! BOL

road trip up the 101

daughter #1 got a promotion at work but with that, she had to move up north to monterey (which is about 2 hours south of san francisco). so, we packed up her west hollywood apartment, and the doggies, and moved her up to monterey this weekend.

"ok, i'm ready for our road trip!"

hello? hello?

if you ever wondered where santa spends his summers,
it's in carpinteria! lol

some of the work ahead of us

the girls were very patient while we were busy unpacking

after our work was done, we had a nice dinner...

...and got in a little sightseeing

harbor seals enjoying the fresh sea air

from my daughter's previous apt she could see the hollywood sign,
now she can see the monterey bay!

i hope you enjoyed our little excursion up north. we did a lot of work, we had a lot of fun and we found a couple of new coffee shops that will show up on my coffee blog over the next three days.
