i’m still nursing a sprained ankle, so hubby took advantage of our stay at home weekend to get some gardening done... with bailey right by his side... cuz you know, bailey has to be wherever her daddy is.

i am thankful for bee, my grand-doggie, and that she and bailey have been getting along so much better. i think they are finally beginning to understand each other.

because she lives in brooklyn and only visits every few months, it’s taken them a bit of time to learn each others ways. but with this visit, i think they turned a corner. YAY.

my little squirrel friend LOVES walnuts, so everytime she comes around, i offer her a few.

remember when bailey fell off the bed last year? let me show you how we’ve been preventing that from ever happening again.
wake up, little bailey. it’s time to rise and shine.

when i peel back the covers, you can see she is harnessed and tethered.

there’s enough leash so she can walk to hubby’s side of the bed but not enough so she can fall off again.

on my side of the bed, i have a safety rail. i also drape a blanket over the top of it so she can’t fall through the gap between the guard and the mattress.

it’s better to be safe than sorry.

our weekend

bailey and i had a very uneventful weekend. i sprained my ankle so hubby put me on "house arrest," which i wasn’t too pleased about, but then he went to michael’s and bought me a big skein of yarn and all was right with the world BOL. bailey loved that we had such a chill weekend and was the perfect nursemaid, staying right by my side the entire time.

i feel the earth move under my feet

i feel the earth move is a song by carole king and yesterday the earth literally did move under my feet. why? because a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit southern california. (the biggest we've had in 20 years!) it was centered in the mohave dessert and was felt from chico all the way down to mexico. ya, that’s a biggie. for as big as it was, little bailey did not notice it because she was outside with hubby.

"earthquake? what earthquake?"

as for the fireworks, we had a good night. there were a few surprise pops but bailey made it through like a champ.

happy 4th my friends

here we are again at another dreaded 4th of july. it’s not really the day we object to, it’s the fireworks that come with it. specifically the illegal ones that sound like bombs and explode without warning. we are not a fan and they throw bailey into a tizzy. she is a very skittish dog by nature and every little noise makes her jump, so holidays with fireworks are her worst nightmare. fingers crossed for a peaceful evening.
