as the sun peacefully sets here on the west coast, bailey is off in dreamland, no doubt dreaming of more sunshine.

we are expecting back to back storms, so the girls are enjoying the last bit of sun before the storms arrive.

tiny kibble for tiny dogs

wordless wednesday? ya, i don't think so. BOL

i finally found a kibble that bailey can eat without any problems. it is now fresh from the canadian company, petcurean. it is made specifically for small breed dogs.

on the left is her old kibble (orijen six-fish). it is small but not small enough. she had trouble biting the kibble and would get scared each time she would crush it in her mouth. so i ended up having to cut each of her kibble into 2-3 pieces. (the things we do for our doggies, right?)

with the much smaller and thinner kibble, she has no trouble eating and she doesn't scare herself when she chews. BOL

it is made with 100% fresh turkey, salmon, duck & omega oils. it is also grain free with 0% rendered meats, 0% by-product meals, and 0% gluten, wheat, corn & soy. the ingredient list also lists a healthy assortment of fruits, vegetables and herbs.

of course i give this to her in addition to her regular diet of fresh cooked chicken, assorted veggies (she loves cauliflower), cottage cheese...

santa paula inn

after the holidays are over, the decorations are put away and the ball has dropped in times square, we like to go on a weekend getaway. this year it took us a little longer but we finally found time to schedule our weekend away. this year we spent a day in ventura, stayed the night in santa paula, then the next day, on to santa barbara. it was a fun little trip with no plans and no time table. i even left my computer at home! (though i did take my ipad mini.)

we stayed at the dog-friendly santa paula inn, a quaint little b&b. with only 14 rooms, it was nice and quiet. nothing like the larger hotels where you have people coming and going at all hours of the night, talking loudly in the hallway and waking weary travelers from a sound sleep.

bailey enjoyed her stay and was on her best behavior.

if you are ever in that neck of the woods, i would recommend this little place. it's off the beaten path for sure, but that's usually where you find the hidden gems.

tiny thumbelina

we were going through some boxes in the garage the other day when i came across my tiny thumbelina! i've had this doll ever since i was a little girl. i packed her 7 years ago when we moved to our new home and she's been there ever since. (yes, i still have things packed in the garage that never made it into our home. lol) but how could i have forgotten about her? well, i have no idea how that happened. i'm just glad i found her and she's back inside, where she belongs. she is now proudly seated on the bed in our guest room.

product review: fromm grain free treats

"chewy.com sent me a package!"

"can i taste one?"

"mmm, they smell yummy!"

as you can see, she was interested in them straight away. each treat measures a good 1" in diameter and are about 1/2" thick, so for my tiny bailey, i had to break them up quite a bit. [i'm sure they wouldn't be a problem for an average size dog.] surprisingly my little piggy she ate the entire cookie!

i chose to review the fromm cookies for several reasons:
1) made in wisconsin, usa
this is very important to me and the economy of our country. all ingredients are also sourced in the usa.
2) grain-free
dogs are carnivores, not herbivores, 'nuff said.
3) every ingredient is real food
there was nothing on the ingredient list that i couldn't pronounce (see for yourself) the ingredient list starts with chicken and ends with spinach.
4) family owned and operated company since 1904
when given the choice of supporting a family owned business or a giant corporation, i will always choose the family owned company.

bailey definitely gives this cookie two paws up. she's not really a cookie monster, so for her to eat the whole thing, that's saying a lot. plus i can feel good about giving it to her.

{this moment} see beautiful: february 2014

because today is valentine's day, i am beginning this see beautiful post with my heart of hearts.

we made an impromptu visit to the beach to take some pictures of bailey. while she was taking a water break, i took this shot. the trio of lifeguard towers overlooking the ocean... beautiful.

this next shot was our sunset a while back. the night sky changes from moment to moment, so to catch this moment, i thought was quite beautiful.

why am i adding this table to my see beautiful post? because hubby made it for me! i told him i needed a long, narrow table for our patio room, so i could work at the window that faces our backyard. so he made one for me and i think it's beautiful. (ya, my hubby's the best.)

and again, my little bailey, who is always by my side.

the see beautiful blog hop is so we can all take time to stop and smell the roses. there is beauty everywhere if you just stop and take notice. life can get hectic but if we just take a moment to breathe and look around, you just may see beauty where you never noticed before.

bailey is demonstrating the canine ballet fourth position. of course in the canine version, only the left arm is required to be in position, as the right is required for balance. BOL. notice her perfect posture and how she is holding her arm at a perfect shoulder height. c'est magnifique.
