my, how time flys. it seems like yesterday that little bailey entered our lives, but it’s been 8 years! i can hardly believe it.

this little girl has been through so much but she’s a fighter and has made it through everything that life has thrown at her. who knew a little 4 pound doggie could be so strong.
happy gotcha day, sweetie. i love you sooo much.

i hope everyone’s thanksgiving went off without a hitch and you have recovered from your food coma. this year we did a thanksgiving brunch, with turkey quiche instead of the traditional turkey. as for bailey, she had a scrambled egg with side of veggies.

a surprise for bailey

since bailey has been having so much trouble with her diet, we thought she deserved a treat, so we got her a pupcake.

"mmm"

i cut it in half and broke it to bits for her.

"nom nom nom"

of course she loved it, but more importantly, she didn’t throw it up! it was a win, win!

two good, one not so good

firstly, bailey is doing pretty well. the antibiotics really did their job! her eye is back to it’s normal marble self.

secondly, the new medication for her seizures is also doing very well. i can count on one hand how many seizures she’s had since the change.

thirdly, the only problem we are having is her new diet. we are having trouble finding new foods that bailey likes and that agree with her tummy (she’s thrown up twice this week.) she’s not too fond of the vegetarian kibble or the canned food so i am looking for other options.

off to see the vet

bailey had a series of seizures thursday and was very lethargic. then on friday morning she woke up with an eye infection. so friday afternoon we were off to see the vet.

the antibiotic dr w gave us started to work pretty quickly. the picture below was taken saturday, and as you can see, her eye was better but not quite back to normal. sunday she was just about good as new and i was able to get some good pictures for yesterday’s post.

as for her seizures, dr w switched her medication and also drastically changed her diet. he said no more meat because it could trigger a seizure. this is going to be really hard for her because she absolutely loves when i top her dinner with bits of beef. she can’t have any more chicken either but eggs are ok. yesterday i went to our local pet shop looking for some vegetarian options and found some kibble by natural balance and a canned food by evanger’s. bailey, didn’t really care for the evenger’s but we’ll see if she can grow to like it? i didn’t open the kibble yet but we'll give it a try today. are any of your fur babies on a no-meat diet? do you have any recommendations for us?

veterans day

11.11 is a day set aside to honor those who have served in our military. yes, that was yesterday but since it landed on a sunday, all the veterans get an extra day of national respect. we thank all the men, women and canines that put our country and our freedom above all else.

my dad proudly served in the navy during the korean war, so in his honor, bailey decided to don her dress blues just like my dad wore all those years ago. BOL

southern california is in mourning due to the mass shooting in thousand oaks wednesday night and now a pair of huge brush fires in the neighboring communities.

we also hear there is a fire in northern california!

our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of those who lost their lives in the shooting and to those who have lost their homes in the fires.
