aoife usually goes to her toy bin with a particular toy in mind and will dig through her toys until she finds what she is looking for. she is very focused and does not get distracted by the other toys in her way. when she gets tired of that toy, she will go back to the bin and pick another. BOL

don't leave home without it
when we go out with bailey, we never leave home without her doggie bag. wanna know what's in it?
water: yes, that's her pink water bottle on the table :)
treats: to help with picture taking or as a reward for good behavior
blankie: cuz she's always cold
kibble: just in case we stay out past mealtime
does your pup have a doggie bag?

hummingbird update
if you saw our post on friday, then you know ms. hummingbird built her nest on our patio. well, i snuck a peek inside and guess what i found:
two perfectly beautiful eggs!!!
her nest is a work of art. she has collected fluff, fibers, spider webs, feathers & plants and worked them into an expertly crafted nest for her babies.
UPDATE:
jeanne wanted to know about size so i took this picture to show scale.

product review: nature's variety instinct raw boost mixers
this month we are reviewing nature's variety instinct raw boost mixers (lamb formula).
to get bailey's initial reaction to them, i let her check them out on their own.
she gave them her seal of approval, so i added a few more to her lunch bowl. she actually sought them out and ate them first! BOL
added bonus: because they are freeze-dried, i didn't have to break them up for her. i split one and it broke rather easily, so i knew she would be able to handle them on her own. woo-hoo!
aoife came for a visit just in time to sample the raw boost mixers. both girls loved them and gobbled them up without hesitation. the raw boost mixers are also available in chicken, turkey & beef and we look forward to trying all of them!
a special thank you to nature's variety for the bandana!
in a nutshell:
great topper for kibble
real, freeze-dried grass-fed lamb
natural ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption
nutritious oils for healthy skin and coat
grain-free and gluten-free
btw: chewy.com provided us with the package of mixers in exchange for our honest opinion of the product. the opinion stated in this review was written by me and was not copy supplied by nature's variety or chewy.

strangers lend a helping hand
saturday, on our way to coffee, we happened upon a chocolate lab that had just been hit by a car. he was laying in the middle of the street all alone, so of course we pulled over to see if we could help. i stayed in the car with bailey and called 911 while hubby went to see if there was anything he could do, and to block traffic so another car didn't come and run him over. the lady in yellow was a witness to the accident and came over right after we got there.
the lady that hit the dog, came to say she said she didn't see him until it was too late. she also said she had her 7 year old grand daughter in the car with her.
next, the guy with the cap stopped to see if he could lend a hand. he said he had just lost his dog to cancer :( and see that gallon of water on the ground? another person that was driving by, gave it to them so they could cool the dog off. the dog was obviously in pain but he still managed to wag his tail. he knew we were all there to help him.
it was dangerous to stay in the street, and it was really hot for the poor dog, so they had to get it to a safer location. we had a blanket in our car, so hubby and the guy with the cap, carefully slid the dog onto the blanket to get him out of the busy street while everyone waited for help to arrive.
the dog was pretty heavy so i'm glad there was another man there to help hubby.
they placed him on the lawn under a tree and poured the water on him to cool him off.
20 minutes went by and still no animal control, so the lady in yellow gives them another call. the guy in the vest, had been watching from across the street, so he came by and brought more water.
i don't know when animal control got there but the owner of the dog finally showed up. i don't know what she was thinking but she showed up with a leash in her hand. did she think she was going to leash him up and take him home? ya, i don't think so.
dear chocolate lab, wherever you are, we are sending you POTP.
and to all the strangers that came together that day to lend a hand, for a dog - you all rock.

{this moment} see beautiful
this little lady has decided to build a nest on my patio. i look forward to the beautiful new life she will be bringing into our world.
here is a progression of her nest making. this has taken her less than a week to build and i don't think she's done yet. she's doing it all on her own without any help from mr hummingbird. beautiful job, ms hummingbird.
from a harmless hummingbird to a deadly hawk. i see them all from my backyard and they are all beautiful.
yesterday was hubby's birthday and this is one of the shots from our birthday photo shoot. my beautiful little bailey is such a goofball.
i hope you enjoyed my beautiful.

close encounter of a feline kind
why am i starting off this post with a cat? because we had a crazy experience at lowes and i just had to share it with y'all.
what do you suppose this cat is staring at?
he's staring at bailey!!!
and he's stalking her as she walks around.
bailey is so busy sniffing around, she doesn't even notice that there is a cat lurking by the pillar.
she's in her own little world and is oblivious to everything around her.
when she finally notices him, she is not impressed.
we walked away and the cat sat up like a little prairie dog so he could keep watching bailey.
he just couldn't keep his eyes off of her!
as bailey walked away, the cat followed!
i'm not sure what this cat was thinking. maybe he's never seen such a tiny dog? maybe it was love at first sight? i have no idea but it was the strangest thing we've ever experienced. what do you think?
