this pic was taken on 11.1.11. bailey had only been with us about a year when this was taken and is definitely one of my favorite pics from the past. we had gone out for coffee and just happened upon this old wagon wheel in the shrubbery. i asked bailey if she'd be kind enough to pose for a pic and she graciously agreed.

it doesn't happen often, but every once in a while, you can catch a glimpse of a naked bailey. why is she sans clothing? yesterday was bathday and since it was so hot, i just left her au naturel.

bailey is all about the "midnight" snack. well, not really midnight, more like 9pm snack. she happens to love nilla wafers, so every night when she gets the munchies, she gets her mini wafers.

in the words of john denver, "sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy" and bailey absolutely agrees. our weather is heading towards triple digits but our weekend was quite lovely. i'm glad bailey was able to get some fresh air before it gets really hot because i think she'll be breathing air conditioner air for the rest of the week. BOL

bailey loves when i put her on the back of our couch. our sofa faces a big window, so it's like she has a front row seat to our street. she can be the neighborhood watchdog from the comfort of our home.

one of bailey's favorite treats is a blueberry bagel so to celebrate her victory over pancreatitis, we all had blueberry bagels over the weekend. (gotta say, they are one of my faves too.)

it's official

bailey has beat pancreatitis! doc called yesterday and said her numbers are well within the normal range. wow, what a journey. i have 100% confidence in our vet but still you just never know how things are gonna turn out. especially knowing now, how deathly ill she really was. i feel like i can finally breathe again. now we just have to build up her strength and get that pound back that she lost.

i keep finding bailey in the strangest sleeping positions. how is her footsie pointing straight up if she's lying on her side? i wanted to peel back the blankie to see but i didn't want to disturb her. she looks so peaceful.

good news wednesday

i think it's time for some good news:
good news #1: monday and tuesday were good days. bailey has been eating better, not good, but definitely better.

good news #2: she got a pretty good report from her vet yesterday. that mass that she has on her spleen has reduced in size and doc is no longer concerned about it. has little bailey dodged another bullet?

good news #3: the vampire doc took more blood yesterday. (i just found out they are taking blood from her jugular! poor baby.) results have yet to come back but he is optimistic and says bailey is in the final stretch!

cinco de mayo

i've been so busy lately with bailey's pancreatitis treatments and so many trips to the vet, i never had a chance to take any new pics of her for today's blog post. i did have plans for today's pictures but time just flew by and here i am without a picture. sooo, into my photo roll i go, where i found this classic shot from 2012. ¡feliz cinco de mayo, amigos!

subcutaneous fluids & antibiotics

when we went to the vet on friday, they sent us home with a couple of antibiotics (to be given over the weekend) and a bag of fluids (to be given till the bag is empty). we gave the antibiotics with no problem, and by "we" i mean hubby, but we had major problems with the fluids. i don't think we are equipped to do that one. saturday half way through the administration, bailey moved and the needle came out of her scruff so "we" had to reinsert it. ugh. sunday was worse. i got jabbed with the needle and the bag started leaking. it was one mishap after another. nope, we can't do this. we're going back today for another treatment, so i'll tell them this is way out of our ability and comfort level.

also during our visit to the vet, i told doc what a terror she is on the drive home. (he said it's a reaction to the treatments.) she's out of control and it's dangerous to drive home with her in that state. i've tried her car seat and i've tried putting her in her little carrier. neither worked. he said he would give her an additional tranquilizer to keep her calm until we got home. the next picture is of her with the sedative. i hate doping her up but i can't drive with her like that.
other than our fluid problems, we had a great weekend. bailey ate well and her energy level was back to normal. woohoo :)

time to relax

we made a quick trip to the vet yesterday to refill one of bailey's prescriptions and to discuss her condition. doc said her numbers are still a little high, so we are going back today for another pancreatitis treatment and another blood test. she got a little tired from the trip and was glad to get home so she could curl up and relax on the sofa (her favorite spot).
