3rd treatment

bailey had another treatment for her pancreatitis yesterday and they took more blood to see how her body is reacting to the treatments. today she will only get subcutaneous fluids. this'll be a much shorter visit. the full treatment takes about an hour but fluids only take about a minute to administer. again, she slept all the way home. our vet is 30 miles away, so that was a pretty good nap.

car seat no-no

bailey is demonstrating on how NOT to sit in a car seat. we had just visited our vet (where they took blood to run some tests. more on that later.) and bailey was still a little wound up. after we sat in the car for a few minutes, she calmed down and i was able to drive home, with her properly seated in her car seat.

another update

we had another visit to the vet friday and this is how bailey sat in her car seat on our way home. she was so pooped. but comfy? i dunno. BOL

doc looked in her eyes and said she's not completely blind but her vision is definitely impaired. he said to continue with her eye drops to reduce her eye pressure. he also said to increase the dosage to 3 times a day.

this picture was taken in march of 2020, just before we were quarantined because of covid.  bailey loved to go out to all the dog-friendly stores. now the only place she goes is to the doctor. definitely not as fun as shopping.

this picture was taken in 2015, only 3 months after bailey's near fatal fall. you'd never know it to look at this face that she had just cracked her skull open. she was still on the mend but was making fantastic progress. of course she didn't come out of it unscathed. 6 1/2 years later, she still has seizures but all things considered, she's doing great. she is our little miracle.

this flashback pic of bailey is from 2011, less than a year after we rescued her. no longer having to fend for herself, she could finally relax and be the princess she was born to be. she had a loving home with everything she could possibly want. she was safe & loved and it showed on her face... and in her posture. BOL

it's official

bailey has beat pancreatitis! doc called yesterday and said her numbers are well within the normal range. wow, what a journey. i have 100% confidence in our vet but still you just never know how things are gonna turn out. especially knowing now, how deathly ill she really was. i feel like i can finally breathe again. now we just have to build up her strength and get that pound back that she lost.

we went out yesterday for a few hours and it seems to have tuckered bailey out quite a bit. as soon as we got in the car to come home, she fell right asleep. i don't know why she got so tired. she gets carried everywhere we go. BOL
