heatwave

if you follow our instagram feed, then you know we've been having some unusually HOT weather the past few days. bailey and i are southern california girls and are somewhat used to the heat, but this is ridiculous.

if you don't follow us, take a look at what we've been dealing with.

if you are also experiencing some crazy heat, try to not exert yourself, stay indoors and stay hydrated!

the calendar says fall but the weather says summer

summer seems to be having a bit of trouble stepping aside and letting fall come in. yesterday we were in the mid 90's!

triple digit temps = tongue out tuesday

we had a super hot day yesterday. if you follow us on facebook then you saw this picture (though it was much darker because it was uploaded from my phone, pre-photoshop). it showed our temp at 103° but after i took this picture, we climbed another degree and we topped out at 104°!

yes it was hot and yes bailey was wearing a shirt. i'm not a bad dog mom, she was cold because we had the air conditioner on. when we went outside, i did take the shirt off of her.

this would probably be a good time to remind everyone of a few summer precautions: always have plenty of clean, fresh water available for your dogs. --- provide them with plenty of shady spots so they can get away from the hot sun. --- exercise them in the morning or in the evening when the weather is a bit cooler. --- whether you offer them ice cubes or not is a topic groovy goldendoodles was discussing yesterday. bailey can't chew an ice cube but i do add ice to her water bowl. --- dogs can get heat stroke, just like people. know the signs and the treatment. --- and NEVER leave them in a parked car.

hot, hotter, hottest

we've been having some really hot temperatures lately but yesterday was a doozy. we topped out at 102! in these extreme weather conditions, it is recommended that you take it easy, wear loose fitting clothing & drink lots of cool water.

obviously the same goes for doggies. keep them indoors and have plenty of fresh water available for them at all times. and of course, do not leave them in a parked car. if you have to go out, leave your dog at home.

have blankie, will travel

even though we've been in a heat wave for the past couple of weeks, bailey still gets cold; especially when we have the air conditioner on. so i put her t-shirt on and tuck her in her bed under a blankie. her silliness is that when she gets up, she drags her blankie all around the house with her :)

the weather channel app

did you know you can customize the background on the weather channel app? how do you like the new background i chose and how do you like the temperature we had yesterday? it was a scorcher!

if you are having temps like we are, keep fido's outdoor activities to a minimum and always have plenty of fresh water available. if traveling with your pet, please do NOT leave them in the car while you run into the store for a "quick minute". it only takes moments for the interior of a car to reach unbearable conditions which could result in brain damage to your pet, or worse. stay cool my friends!

93 degrees

well yesterday was a scorcher. it was 93 degrees at 3.25pm! i hope today isn't as high, but it is summer, and this is southern california. oh well. we will stay hydrated and stay inside as much as possible.

a reminder that should go without saying, but always have plenty of fresh water available to your doggie and if they must be outside, please provide plenty of shaded areas. remember they are wearing a fur coat. and of course NEVER leave them in a parked car!
