i ask myself that question each time i take a picture of bailey sleeping BOL. but i can't help myself. she just looks so peaceful - so sweet. and if her little tongue falls out, well then really, how can i not take the photo?
how many pictures do you have of your sleeping pup?

portland trip, part 4
before we headed out for the day, we grabbed a quick coffee at dutch bros, a cute little drive thru coffee shop.
then we headed north. my daughter suggested we drive up to washington, just to say we were there. anyway, how many chances will we have to cross the columbia river? did you know, it's the largest river in the pacific northwest.
one more for the road. or should i say one more for the sky. BOL
goodbye portland. you've been loads of fun.

portland trip, part 3
wordless wednesday? ya, i don't think so. BOL
may i present giant paul bunyan. he stands 31 feet tall and is listed in the national register of historic places.
another coffee shop we stopped in at was stumptown coffee roasters. if you are interested, i have written about this shop at coffeemeister, my coffee blog.
we ended the day at bailey's taproom. i'm not a beer drinker at all, but since portland is known as "beervana" and well, with a name like "bailey's" how could we resist?
interesting place. they have 20 beers on tap and you just tell the beertender which number you want.
wait, let's take a closer look at the beer board, shall we? oh look, coffeedog is there! they have a realtime foursquare ticker running on the board so when you check-in, you appear on their ticker.
if you know what you want, of course you can order a glass of that, but if you are unsure, like we were, they offer a sample tray. you choose 5 beers from the board and they serve them in cute little 4 oz glasses.
my favorite of the beers i sampled, was called 'widmer brothers marionberry hibiscus gose'. i'm gonna see if i can find that down here where i live.
water on tap. would that make it tap water? BOL i'll be here all week.
not really sure what this guy is, but he's made outta rebar and scrap metal.
mini bailey had a busy, busy day and is ready for bed!
random picture:
i saw this fire hydrant on the street corner and just had to take it's picture because of the attached sign. FIRE USE ONLY um, why does it need the sign? does the city think people will open it up to shower in?
to be continued ...

portland trip, part deux
daughter #1 flew up from monterey and i flew up from the los angeles area and we met in portland. our flights landed within an hour of each other which worked out perfectly!
our first stop was to hit a coffee shop (thank goodness daughter #1 is a coffee person too!). we stopped in at blue kangaroo, an independent coffee roaster and had their signature blend, the sundog.
they are dog friendly, but they prefer those with their canines companions in tow, to sit on the side of their building where there happens to be a fire hydrant, some lawn and a bowl of water.
we also hit the portland saturday market, an art show right on the
willamette river. (the willamette river flows right into the columbia river!)
oh, did you notice the water fountain right next to me? those are benson bubblers and they are all over the city! aren't they cool?
we were driving down the street when we saw this gondola above us. we went to investigate ...
... and ended up taking the aerial tram for a ride, which totally freaked me out, but i put on my big girl panties and endured it.
ok, it's pretty up here, but it's still freaking me out. ugh, the things we do for our children :)
hello down there!
this thing travels 3,300 linear feet, goes 22 mph and when it gets to the middle it sways pretty good! the tram operator even warns you to hold on. (again a freak out moment.)
apparently, when in portland, voodoo doughnuts is a must have.

portland trip, part 1
daughter #1 invited me to join her on a trip to portland. how could i say no? the trip was this past weekend but the downside was, i had to leave bailey at home with hubby. since she couldn't come, i took mini bailey with me. she enjoyed everything with me and was witness to it all.
my flight left at 5.50 am, so when the flight attendant asked if i wanted anything, i asked for a coffee. yes, i know, it's airplane coffee, but at that hour, it really didn't matter to me.
look at the cute restaurant in the portland airport! i don't eat sausages but that's not gonna stop me from taking a few pics!
to be continued...
but in the meantime, here is bailey with a monkey on her back showing a little of her mischievous side
