happy ending

bailey had an encounter with a baby lizard yesterday.

"hi tiny, little lizard!"

the little guy didn’t run away when bailey approached it.

it even let her sniff it! at this point, i was actually beginning to get worried about the little guy :(

then, before bailey, and i, knew what happened, it ran away. whew! i guess it was just... daydreaming? i dunno. i’m just glad it was ok. yay! a happy ending.

bailey & the lizard

oh my goodness, bailey's mischief making shenanigans were like none i've ever seen before when she came face to face ...
with a lizard!

i'm not sure if she wanted to play with it or devour it. i've never seen her so focused on something for so long. (she can be a little scatterbrained at times.) there wasn't much reaction from the lizard. i think the poor little guy just wanted to sleep because night was falling and the weather was cooling down.

later that night when she went out to do her "business" she remembered about the lizard and went to look for him in the sprinkler where he was hiding. of course he was long gone and probably sound asleep under a rock somewhere. she gave the yard a good once-over, and when she was satisfied that he was gone, she came back inside.

lizards play hide & seek with aoife

aoife discovered a couple of lizards on the tree stump the other day. what ensued was quite entertaining. she never did catch one but it sure wasn't from lack of trying! maybe next time, eef!

my secret place

aoife is back! and with aoife comes lizard hunting.

she is sure there is one hiding behind this sign. i'm sure the poor lizard was hoping it had found his very own secret place. after all, that is what the sign says. but there are no secret places with aoife around. she is a super snooper and can always find lizards in their hiding places.

heeere lizard, lizard, lizard

aoife is our resident lizard hunter and she has detected a lizard hiding behind the rocks. she tried and tried to reach it but of course never did.
bailey makes a small "cameo appearance" around the 0:50 mark. BOL

hey aoife, looking for this guy?

disclaimer: no lizards were harmed in the making of this video. i like all the little reptile tenants that live in my garden and would not let any harm come to them.

i see you!

aoife's favorite pastime is to chase lizards. she has never caught one [thank goodness] but it surely isn't from lack of trying. i personally like the lizard population just as it is, so fingers crossed that she never catches one. here, she has discovered a lizard on the ledge of the horsetail planter. she can see it but can't reach it and it is driving her crazy! look at the intensity in her eye!

bailey on the other hand could care less about lizards. check out friday's post if you need proof.

aoife: our resident lizard hunter

how did aoife get this dirty, you ask?

well, it went like this...

and it was all because of this little guy, hiding behind the flagstone.

aoife finds a surprise in the birdhouse

hubby & i were sitting in the backyard, enjoying a cup of coffee, doggies roaming, when all of a sudden aoife said there was something in the birdhouse that was sitting on the ground. i went to investigate and yes, i heard something in there too.

i put it up on the wall and waited to see what would appear. after a few minutes...

rub a dub dub, lizard in a tub

hubby found this little lizard in a storage tub we had in our patio. poor little guy must have fallen in and couldn't get out! of course we had to show bailey before releasing little lizard back into the garden.

disclaimer: little lizard was never in danger of being hurt by bailey. she was looking at it through the clear tub.

mischief monday: lizard fever

bailey has lizard fever. every time she goes outside, she looks for them. aoife, her bff, has taught her that they are to be hunted. today she saw one run under the doghouse, so she's waiting for him to come out. little does she know, it ran out the other side. BOL

lizard in da the house!

as i was walking through my dining room yesterday, i noticed something on the floor. i took a closer look and OMG it was a baby lizard! ok, now what do i do. panic? scream? i grabbed bailey's blankie and tossed it over the lizard while i got my head together.

bailey is posing with the supplies needed to capture a lizard without harming it. items needed: blankie, plastic tub, legal pad, stiff placemat

i ran to get a plastic tub. i peeled back the blankie and caught him with the tub. i then got a legal pad for the cardboard backing. i slid the cardboard under the tub, being careful not to lift the tub too much and being careful not to injure the poor baby. ok, done, but turns out the legal pad wasn't rigid enough, so i slid a cork placemat under that. ok, now i can lift the placemat and i won't lose the lizard. i took him outside, uncapped him and he scurried off to the lawn. whew, what an exciting day!
what's the strangest thing you've ever found in your house?

so close, yet so far

bailey was minding her own business when all of a sudden a lizard invaded her domain appeared on our patio. when they saw each other it turned into a staring contest. it was like a scene from a gunfight at the o.k. corral, just waiting to see who was gonna make the first move. only problem is bailey was inside and the lizard was outside. i don't think the lizard would have been so brave if there wasn't a glass door between them. well the lizard made the first move and lost the staring contest. bailey then became very upset that she couldn't forcibly remove it from our property chase it away.

buzz buzz, gulp

this is a bee... or in other words...

...lunch! bees are pretty fast but lizards are even faster!

i can't publish a post without a picture of bailey, so here she is, enjoying the sunshine, on her cot.
