a day at the park

we had another day of fun and adventure at the park.
the girls climbed rocks...

nearly got lost in the tall grass...

climbed a tree...

needed help climbing a tree...

and made funny faces in the camera...

yep, it most assuredly was a fun day at the park.

aoife's day at the park

last week when the dog park was closed, aoife spent her time posing for pictures...

conquering a mountain of dirt...

crossing a suspension bridge...

climbing a slide...

& contemplating life.

even after her day of fun and frolic, you'd think she'd be dog-tired, but it looks like she's ready to go for round two!

what did you do today?

dog park closed

our cold weather is gone (for now) and the sun was shining so we decided to go to the dog park and guess what? it closed for maintenance. so now what?!

not to worry, the dog park is adjacent to an equestrian center so there are acres of land to explore.

bailey had lots and lots of new areas to investigate and many new scents to smell.

there was even a jungle jim that she could play on.

there was so much to see and do, bailey was pooped at the end of our visit.

giddy up!

a horse is a horse, of course, of course.

yesterday at the dog park, bailey came face to face with a horse! she was a little scared but daddy held her tight. this is the best shot i could get because she didn't wanna get any closer. oh well, maybe next time.

has your pooch ever met a horse?

making new friends

bailey has been doing very well at the dog park. she likes sniffing all the scents and snooping around and just stays to herself for the most part. she is happy to meet and greet anydog that comes up to her and politely asks for a sniff, like the guy in this picture. but she will not tolerate when they come charging at her with absolutely no manners. she will speak up and put them in their place. she tells them "that is no way to greet a lady".

aoife on the other hand needs a little more work. she is a little on the nervous side. she gets possessive of us and doesn't like anydog coming near. does anyone have any suggestions on helping eef to relax?

more new friends

on friday's visit to the dog park, more friends were made.
the dog that looks like a miniature husky was actually a 19 year old chihuahua mix! she hobbles along with her arthritis and can hardly see with her cataracts, but she's a trooper and still comes to the dog park with her person.

the spotted dog is buchi, a chihuahua/jack russell mix. she was just a puppy but bailey was still smaller. she was a bundle of energy. bailey & aoife didn't really know what to make of her because she never stopped running! i tried to get a picture of her cute face but she never stayed still long enough for me to get it.
there were even a few horses that strolled by on the horse trail that goes right by the dog park.

what did you do this weekend?

dog park!

this is rocket. he is a brussels griffon we met yesterday at the dog park. doesn't he have the best face?

bailey wasn't too sure about him but she was cordial when he came to say hello.

aoife was surrounded by white dogs!

looks like bailey is telling tails tales.

temecula dog park & froyo!

after our beach adventure on saturday, we headed up to temecula on sunday.

i used my handy dandy dog park finder app and found margarita community dog park. it was really hard to find as there are NO signs on the property that it even existed. it is hidden way behind the closed down ymca and not anywhere near the human park. it's as if they don't want anyone to know it's there! we were looking for it for quite a while in triple digit temps but i was stubborn to find it and didn't give up. bailey deserved some off leash time and i was determined to give it to her.

unfortunately we were the only ones there but that's ok. it looked to be fairly new and was full of trees and green lawn!!! there were two separate fenced sections, one for big dogs and the other for small dogs. each side had a water fountain and a cement park bench. isn't it pretty?

she enjoyed sniffing the scents and relaxing on the cool lawn under the trees.

it was a scorcher of a day...

...so after the dog park we went to cool off with some frozen yogurt at mangoz.

we had a great weekend, full of fun and adventure... and lots of coffee. it doesn't take much to tire little bailey so two entire days away from home had bailey pretty much zonked, but in a good way.

do you have any adventures planned for you and your pack?

sad, sad dog park

we were in san bernardino the other day so i searched my dog park finder app to find us somewhere to take bailey. it searched the area we were in and pulled up wildwood dog park. when we drove up, there was a nice welcome sign greeting us. unfortunately that was the only nice thing about the park.

when we got to the small dog area, there was a really big dog in there and he didn't look very friendly. why was he there when on the other side of the fence is the big dog area? well we weren't going to take our little bailey in with a dog we don't know. the dog's person saw us and didn't even offer to remove her dog to the other side. she just stayed there! so we took bailey to the people side of the park. she was bummed that she had to stay on leash but we had no choice.

on our stroll through the park we saw a woodpecker!

when the woman and her dog finally decided to leave, we were able to enter the small dog area. it was so sad. it was all dirt with just a small patch of lawn under the lonely tree. i don't know why it was so neglected when the large dog area had lots of green lawn to frolic on. hey san bernardino, little dogs wanna have green lawn too!

bailey wasn't very happy there and told us she was hot and wanted to leave. needless to say, we will NOT be returning to wildwood dog park :(

a trip to the dog park

we surprised bailey with a trip to the dog park and of course she was the tiniest dog there. it was a 90 degree day but since the dog park was in the foothills, we didn't feel the heat at all.

she was a really good girl and wasn't freaked out when the bigger dogs came up to say hello. she spent most of her time there within a few feet of us but she did venture off a few of times.

this girl was very friendly!

we stayed until bailey said she'd had enough, which was about an hour. she was pooped and slept all the way home.
