our weather has finally cleared up. we’ve had gorgeous summer-like weather all week! last week we had rain and hail, this week is in the 80's. bailey doesn’t know what’s going on but she’s just glad she can go outside and not need a canoe to get across the yard. i wonder what’s in store for us next week.

even when there's a storm raging outside. yesterday we had thunder, lightening, rain and hail! this is some crazy may weather!

they’re baaack! mama say’s phoebe has redecorated her nest with new fluff and guess what?

more eggs! i’m surprised to find another clutch of eggs so soon. it’s only been 3 weeks since her other brood left the nest! here we go again.

hubby was out of town over the weekend so it was just us girls, home alone, having fun.

rip doris day

yesterday i woke up to the devastating news that doris day had passed. i loved her, her movies and her love of animals.

she was a huge advocate for the animals on set. she refused to work on alfred hitchcock’s the man who knew too much, until the animals were better cared for.

she founded The Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978 to help animals and the people who love them.

in the mid 80’s, when dog-friendly hotels were unheard of, she turned the Cypress Inn into the "pet-friendliest" hotel in the nation.

world spay day exists because of her. she started "spay day usa" in 1995 to help eliminate homeless pet overpopulation.

rip doris day. and thank you for all you’ve done for animals.

in 2013, we visited her beautiful, dog-friendly hotel in carmel-by-the-sea.

i hope everyone’s mother’s day was fab. we spent the day in temecula and started it off with breakfast on the patio. when i order, i always order something i can share with bailey. usually that means she gets some of my scrambled eggs,

which she really loves (don’t worry, she’s not eating on a restaurant bowl, it’s ours).

time to wash it down with some water.

i’ve been telling hubby that i wanted a pour-over dripper stand, so he got to work and, as bailey supervised,

he made one for me as an early mother’s day gift. woohoo!

puppy paws

when i received a package from puppy paws, bailey naturally assumed it was for her.

when she discovered it was coffee, she was not amused.

our babies have grown and left the nest last week but here are a few photos taken before they left.
with all the painted ladies that have been migrating by our home, the parents had no problem finding food to feed the babies.

these babies are just about ready to leave us. i love their funny faces.

this is the first baby to leave the nest.

he landed on our car and made several trips to our tree, then back to our car.

a parents job is never done. they are still catching butterflies to feed the brood.

his little beak is open because he saw his parent fly by with food.

doesn’t it look like he got upset he didn’t get any of that butterfly? BOL
