i was walking passed my patio window yesterday and looked out to see a visitor sprawled on my adirondack chair! do you see him?

this guy comes by nearly everyday for walnuts. and he's so friendly, he takes them right from our hand! it was so hot yesterday, and it's only gonna get hotter, he came to relax in the shade of our patio. because he's here so often, we felt we should give him a name, so we call him murphy.

this cutie was on my patio yesterday. we have a few squirrely friends that come on a regular basis for walnuts. they've got me wrapped around their little paws. if they don't see me outside when they come, they will bark and bark until i hear them. why? because they know if they stay there barking, i will come out with nuts. BOL

our squirrel friend has returned! it's been a while that we've seen him and i've been concerned that something had happened to him. oh, how do i know it's the same one? we have several squirrels in our yard but only one that will do this:

hubby had so much fun feeding him. i think it's amazing to be able to see him so up close and personal.

he's just so cuuute!

the strangest thing happened yesterday. when i went out to check the mail, i saw a cute little squirrel on our front lawn, so of course i started talking to her. then guess what. she started walking towards me. all the way up to me! she just stared at me, so i went inside to get her some walnuts. when i came back, she was still there waiting for me! i was holding bailey so i just dropped them on the ground and she happily gobbled them up.

"got nuts?"

my little squirrel friend LOVES walnuts, so everytime she comes around, i offer her a few.

other squirrels run away when they see me, but not her! she has learned that if she stays, she gets food. BOL

every morning when i go to feed the birds, this little one is watching.

"you have bird food? i like bird food!"

one day i decided to offer her some.

much to my surprise, she accepted the offer!

piggy squirrel somehow climbed up onto the table where i feed the birds, and helped himself to quite a feast.

am i seeing double? this sneaky squirrel is trying to blend in by becoming a statue, next to my statue!

i keep chasing them away, but they are like boomerangs. and poor little bailey is no help whatsoever. she doesn’t even notice them.

AGAIN #WildlifeWednesday

what has this guy been up to lately? well...

he has found his way up to the bird feeder, AGAIN!

look how high off the ground it is! we were sure he couldn’t reach it here. we were wrong.

we saw him do it. first he jumped on the faucet, then he just climbed right up the wall (like a lizard) and onto the wall planter! who knew squirrels could climb a wall! i guess we have to move the feeder, AGAIN.

and then there were these guys. we had three squirrels running a muck around our yard. (i would chase them away after i took the pictures but they’re kinda like a boomerang cuz they keep coming back! BOL)

they are usually up in the trees or walking on the wall but this guy came down to the lawn!

we even had a CAT visit!!! say what!?

bailey is usually pretty chill when it comes to squirrels around the yard but even she has had enough!

disaster averted #WildlifeWednesday

so this happened yesterday:
mr happy-go-lucky squirrel was running up the power pole, oblivious to any dangers that may be in his path.

meanwhile, sitting atop the pole, watching every move he made, was a red-tailed hawk. i call him ethan. ethan hawk. BOL

when mr squirrel had nearly reached the top, ethan was not feeling as carefree as mr squirrel and he let mr squirrel know the top of the pole was his domain and he was in no mood to share it.

as i watched with bated breath, (i absolutely did not want to be witness to ethan having squirrel for breakfast) mr squirrel froze for a moment at the sight of ethan, then made a quick 180,

and scurried back down the pole, with ethan still watching his every move. disaster averted. whew!
