product review: instinct raw boost mixers #ChewyInfluencer

g'day y'all. it's product review time and bailey is ready to get this ball rolling. this month we picked a good one. actually, every month we pick good ones, because chewy only sells good ones.

this month we are trying (and when i say "we" i mean "bailey") instinct by nature's variety raw boost mixers beef recipe freeze-dried dog food topper. as the name indicates, they are freeze-dried which makes them very soft and crumbly. as a "mommy" to a tiny doggie with very weak jaw strength, and not all of her teeth, this is always top on my list when choosing what i feed her.

these little morsels contain:
beef, beef liver, beef kidney, pumpkinseeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, montmorillonite clay, dried kelp, broccoli, mixed tocopherols, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, dried chicory root
247 kcal/cup

* all natural, minimally processed, pure, real nutrition
* supports proper digestion, healthy skin & coat, energy and vitality
* made without - grain, potato, corn, wheat, soy, by-product meal, artificial colors or preservatives
* made in lincoln nebraska "with the finest ingredients from around the world"

from their web site on their ingredients:
"We strive to source our ingredients from the U.S. where possible, but our first priority is superior quality. That’s why our grass-fed lamb and venison are sourced from New Zealand and our farm-raised rabbit is from France. We hold ourselves, and our suppliers, to the highest standards."

besides adding an extra "boost" to your dog's kibble, they are also perfect to use as a treat.
i like to carry a small container of them in our doggie bag, just in case.

bailey loved these mixers. when she finished her taste test, she wanted more, so she is happy to award instinct by nature's variety raw boost mixers beef recipe freeze-dried dog food topper her pink paw seal of approval

so long summer

did you know this was the last weekend of summer? have you noticed the days are getting a little shorter and the evenings are a bit cooler? bailey has noticed the cooler nights, for sure. when i took this picture it was 64° and she needed to be covered up to her ears.

tuck it

what's going on here?

oh, it's just bailey finding a cozy place to tuck her little face. she has such a cute little face, we don't know why she likes to tuck it away.

messy eater

bailey is a messy eater. that's just the way it is and this day wasn't any different. except for one thing. as she was finishing up her dinner, i noticed something. do you see it?

there's a carrot on her foot! how in the world did that happen? and how did it manage to stay on while she was eating? i dunno. BOL

as she was cleaning up after dinner, she noticed her carrot foot and quickly cleaned that up too. good girl.

unexpected visitor

when hubby took bailey out for her bedtime business a few nights back, he found this not so little guy just sitting on our fence. bailey didn't see him and he was too busy posing for pictures to care about little bailey. when we came back inside, he continued along on his merry way across our fence.
and this is exactly why bailey never goes outside alone, especially at night.

crate training (part 2)

it's been about a month since i started crate training bailey. i've been taking it pretty easy so far and not rushing it at all. i don't want to force her because i need it to be a happy place. i have been leaving the door open so she can come and go as she pleases.

she had a bed by our sliding patio doors, so i moved the crate there. she wasn't going to the crate at all in it's previous location and after i moved it, she has been using it every day as i prepare dinner. i've only closed her in a handful of times, mainly to see if she'd freak out or not (she didn't).

in the next few months i will be closing the door more often. i will also start to close her in and leave the room. she is a very slow learner so i am taking it very slow but her walking in on her own, is a very good start in the right direction.

why are we crate training bailey at this point in her life? the venue daughter #2 chose for her wedding is not 100% dog friendly. in other words, bailey can attend the wedding but not the reception, so she must be crated during that time. pfft.

college football is back and this weekend usc took on stanford. bailey is dressed and ready to cheer on her trojans.

"oh no, an interception! i can't look."

our boys played a good game and pulled off a 42-24 victory.

joy ride fail

now that hubby got his camaro running, aoife thought she'd try to take it out for a joy ride.

"hmm, i can't really see..."

"maybe if i just..."

"or maybe i could..."

"i give up"

yesterday on our way to get bailey's nails clipped, a little brown chihuahua ran right in front of my car. i was going north and he was coming south. he basically made a left turn right in front of me. if i hadn't seen him coming, i would have hit him because i had the green light and i was already in the intersection.

his little tongue was hanging out of his mouth and he looked so scared. he was running around without knowing where he was going and without direction. by the time i was able to swing back around, he was gone. i drove a up and down a few streets but i couldn't find him. now i can't get that poor baby out of my head.

bailey is a rescue that was also found running on a busy street and now she lives like a princess. i pray someone was able to get him off the street and that he slept in a warm bed last night. it's the worst feeling knowing that i wasn't able to help him :(

triple digits be gone

finally a day that wasn't in the triple digits! it was so nice, i decided to give bailey a bath and let her air dry on the patio.

she's been stuck inside for a week, she was so happy to be able to sun again.

if you follow our instagram feed, then you know we've been having some unusually HOT weather the past few days. bailey and i are southern california girls and are somewhat used to the heat, but this is ridiculous.

if you don't follow us, take a look at what we've been dealing with.

if you are also experiencing some crazy heat, try to not exert yourself, stay indoors and stay hydrated!

napping with a monkey

bailey always needs a pillow when she sleeps. more times than not, it's one of my limbs but last night she chose her little sock monkey.

if the lighting looks a little off, it's because we had a power outage last night and she was lit by our lantern. yesterday was 107° and the one thing you don't want to be without is electricity, i.e. air conditioner, and to have to use candles to light the room.

brain power

bailey always goes outside to greet hubby when he gets home from work. she usually waits on her bed, but the sun had shifted, leaving her bed in full sun. so what's a little chihuahua to do?

she put her little brain to work and concluded standing in the shade of the umbrella was the smart thing to do. good choice, bailey!
her little brain doesn't always work at 100%, so when she makes a smart decision, it's worth blogging about!

the girls don't like it when i lock them in the living room. right away they want to know what's happening. even though i am in the room with them, they are still on full alert. what's going on? is someone coming over? when can we get out? inquiring minds want to know!
