several years ago, i bought a fire hydrant that i found on craigslist. it has been sitting, untouched, in our backyard ever since. a couple of weeks ago hubby finally found time to restore it. i forgot to take a picture before work began but looking through my image library, i found one that i took a couple of years ago. it was faded, rusted and in much need of some tlc.
i'm so excited! the work has begun. this was taken after the first day of work.
hubby stripped off all the paint, layer... by layer... by layer.
as always, bailey is there to supervise.
after the hand work, he pulled out his electric drill with a wire brush attachment, to get into all the nooks and crannies and around the letters. who knew there were so many words under all that paint!
bailey gives his progress two paws up.
bailey likes how it looks next to our doghouse.
after all the old paint is gone, it gets a couple of coats of primer.
then the exciting part. it gets color!!! of course i wanted it orange!
the caps still need to be attached but the girls were eager to give it the once over.
and there you have it. my orange fire hydrant. I LOVE IT!
do i have the best hubby or what?
did you notice i dressed bailey to match the hydrant? BOL
it is now the focal point of our backyard.
quite a difference, wouldn't you say?
until we meet again my friends-
