trick or treat!

this is our 3rd halloween with bailey as a part of our family and this is the first year i actually bought her a costume. when i found a tiny ladybug costume, at tuesday morning of all places, well, how could i resist?

do you dress your pooch? do they mind? bailey didn't mind the costume because she's always dressed anyway. to her it was just another outfit. the antenna, however, was another story. ya, she wasn't very happy about having to wear it. it was on the floor more than it was on her head! BOL

bailey is very limited on her tricks but she gets treats anyway :)

yesterday bailey found her inner diva and today she is being possessed by a werewolf! (not really. hubby was just making the spider hand. i don't know why it gets this response! BOL)

rip sweet benny

lily and her mom just suffered the worst type of loss imaginable. their sweet benny fought like a frenchie but lost his battle with liver cancer. i pray that they feel all the love that is being sent to them and that it brings them some peace in their time of sorrow.

my favorite grandchild

my favorite grandchild, albeit my only grandchild, but that is beside the point. BOL

aoife has been living with us for the past year because daughter #1 ended up in an apartment that didn't allow dogs. (phooey on that landlord). anyway, she just found a dog friendly apartment and will be moving next week! (happy for her, sad for us). this means that aoife will be moving back with her mommy (clear up in monterey! ya, that's a 7 hour drive). i can't tell you how much i'm gonna miss seeing this face everyday. she adds so much life to our quiet little home. bailey is very low-key. you hardly even know she's around. aoife has personality to spare and makes her presence known. i'm very glad daughter #1 will get her dog back but i'm equally sad to see her go :(

bailey is modeling her new halloween dress but i think she is a little upset at the wording on it. sorry bay :(

this is my attempt at trying to put a witch hat on her. she wasn't on board with this idea and it took about a dozen shots just to get this one. this was the best i could get. BOL

behind the scenes:
when i'm taking pictures of bailey, bailey and aoife both get treats. of course bailey gets them for sitting still but why would i give them to aoife? to keep her outta the way! i thought i'd show you what a good girl aoife is being. she just sits there and waits for me to throw a treat her way.

{this moment] see beautiful

i snapped this picture in jfk. the reason i see beautiful in it is because i went to ny to see daughter #2. landing in new york meant i was that much closer to her and that i would be seeing her as soon as i could get a taxi ride to her apt!

my father was a photographer and he taught me to see beautiful in things we see every day without really seeing. when i saw this manhole cover in new york, i thought of him. the few leaves & the bricks placed so haphazardly all add to the beauty of the photo.

last month i shared a picture of an ugly orange dog caterpillar. this month i'd like to share what that caterpillar will turn into. i caught this swallowtail butterfly flying around the same orange tree that last months orange dog was living in.

i found this leaf bug resting on my patio pillow. last month's orange dog caterpillar looked like bird poop, now i found a bug that looks like a leaf! hey you insects, you have very clever disguises.

and of course i see beautiful in my little bailey.
