rip doris day

yesterday i woke up to the devastating news that doris day had passed. i loved her, her movies and her love of animals.

she was a huge advocate for the animals on set. she refused to work on alfred hitchcock’s the man who knew too much, until the animals were better cared for.

she founded The Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978 to help animals and the people who love them.

in the mid 80’s, when dog-friendly hotels were unheard of, she turned the Cypress Inn into the "pet-friendliest" hotel in the nation.

world spay day exists because of her. she started "spay day usa" in 1995 to help eliminate homeless pet overpopulation.

rip doris day. and thank you for all you’ve done for animals.

in 2013, we visited her beautiful, dog-friendly hotel in carmel-by-the-sea.

until we meet again my friends-

  1. Oh, so sad! She was a great favorite of ours, too. My friend owns a home in Carmel, and we've visited the Cypress Inn a couple of times. She was a great and talented lady...

  2. This amazing lady is my favorite actress of all time. Her song It's Magic my favorite song she recorded. The world has lost a beautiful lady inside and out. RIP Miss Day, we love you.

  3. Ma's been to the Cypress Inn too! She's been lots of times, actually, she loves Carmel. One of Ma's favorite movies was Please Don't Eat the Daisies, she got an Old English Sheepdog because of that movie, and the doggie did not disappoint! She was a true warrior for us furries, and will be beloved furevers!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥
