i try to keep bailey’s blog as lighthearted and happy as i can but today i have no words, so i think i’ll just leave you with a little video i took on my visit to the 9/11 memorial back in 2013.

guess where i was over the weekend.
i went to visit bee (& daughter #2) in new york! bee was so excited that i went to visit her in her new brooklyn apartment. just look at her face! but don't tell bailey, she had to stay home and doesn't know where i went.

i love her view. that's the brooklyn bridge!

it was so much fun having bee here for the holidays and i think she enjoyed her visit as well. she absolutely loved our sunny backyard. isn't she a cutie?

we have dog beds in every room of our house but where did she choose to cuddle up for a nap? on top of my new christmas pillow!

her favorite pastime was to sit on the chair and look out the window, which is something she can't do living on the 27th floor in a nyc apartment.
when daughter #2's stint in new york is over, i think bee would enjoy being a california dog.

these are some random sites i saw while in new york visiting daughter #2. even though the first two are memorials, they are beautiful reminders of the beautiful lives that were taken too soon.

"imagine" the memorial to john lennon:
this was much larger than i expected it to be. i wish i could have gotten a full picture but there were too many tourists standing around, trying to get a picture.

new york rebuilds and goes on.

"life underground":
there are lots of funny little statues scattered throughout the 14th street subway station. this sewer alligator was my favorite.

washington square arch:
modeled after the arc de triomphe in paris.

and most importantly, bailey:
even when she gets too close to the camera.

{this moment] see beautiful

i snapped this picture in jfk. the reason i see beautiful in it is because i went to ny to see daughter #2. landing in new york meant i was that much closer to her and that i would be seeing her as soon as i could get a taxi ride to her apt!

my father was a photographer and he taught me to see beautiful in things we see every day without really seeing. when i saw this manhole cover in new york, i thought of him. the few leaves & the bricks placed so haphazardly all add to the beauty of the photo.

last month i shared a picture of an ugly orange dog caterpillar. this month i'd like to share what that caterpillar will turn into. i caught this swallowtail butterfly flying around the same orange tree that last months orange dog was living in.

i found this leaf bug resting on my patio pillow. last month's orange dog caterpillar looked like bird poop, now i found a bug that looks like a leaf! hey you insects, you have very clever disguises.

and of course i see beautiful in my little bailey.

mommy's in new york...

...and i'm at home without her. nobody told me that last night's riding into the sunset meant that we were taking mommy to the airport! she said something about it being a long flight and that i've never flown before. all i heard was that i had to stay home and after that it's just a blur. geez, she just went to portland to see daughter #1, now she's off to new york to see daughter #2. i'm just glad there are no more kids! BOL
i will say a prayer that the days go by quickly and that she gets home safely.

new year's eve

every year we watch the ball drop in times square from the comfort of our home. we are nice and warm in our jammies as we watch the crazy brave people of new york freeze their tushies off. however you ring in the new year, please be careful.
