SoCal in mourning

southern california is in mourning due to the mass shooting in thousand oaks wednesday night and now a pair of huge brush fires in the neighboring communities.

we also hear there is a fire in northern california!

our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of those who lost their lives in the shooting and to those who have lost their homes in the fires.

"stay safe everyone!"

higher temps in the forecast

over the next few days our temps are supposed to increase 10 degrees a day until we reach the 90's on thursday. we are currently in the 70's, which means freezing if you are a 4 pound chihuahua. thursday bailey will be happy but today she's just cold.

yes she is wearing a sweatshirt and yes i have the fireplace on for her. if i didn't, she'd be curled up in a little ball under her blankies. BOL

a day at the beach

northern san diego county was pounded with brush fires yesterday forcing thousands to be evacuated from their schools, homes and workplaces. since daughter #1 just moved down to carlsbad, this is not the news i want to hear about. the fires are so close to her, her place of employment was one of the locations that had to be evacuated! when we talked yesterday, she said that she went straight home, got aoife and hit the beach to stay out of harms way. she was able to sleep at her apartment last night but told me that she had an evacuation bag by her bed, just in case.

i pray for the firefighters that have to battle these fires; i pray for the people that have lost their homes; and i pray that everyone stay safe.

UPDATE 9.30am: reports are saying the carlsbad fire is now 60% contained.

light my fire

with winter just around the corner and a chill in the air, it's time to crank on the heater and light the fireplace. though we don't care much for the colder weather, we do love to sit by the fire under a cozy blankie.

"who wants to cuddle by the fire?"
