red roof inn

this past weekend we drove up to monterey to deliver aoife back to daughter #1 {insert sad face} and to help her set up her new dog friendly apartment {insert happy face}. while up there, we stayed at the red roof inn. their website says they are pet friendly and [bonus] pets stay free! {insert big happy face!}

as we were walking to our room, i saw the worst kind of mischief.
check out the sign they have posted:

say what?!? i don't understand how a "pet friendly" hotel can post this sign. sooo, dogs can stay at the hotel, but they can't walk on the property? what kind of sense does that make? plus, there was no designated potty area. so, where do they expect the dogs to do their business? would they rather they relieve themselves in the rooms? of course we ignored their signs and so did the other guests that were there with their dogs. phooey on the red roof inn.
oh, and no, we won't be staying there next time we visit.

look how sad bailey was to leave aoife behind.

  8. That's like being in a restaurant for lunch and being told they don't serve food. Some pet friendly places really need improvement! If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny!

  11. They obviously wanted your mom's money, but weren't really "friendly". We stay at Victorian Inn in Monterey. They even give us a special dog bowl and treats when dogs arrive.

  12. Awww - look at that little sad face!

    That's ridiculous about the no walking sign. I heard the same complaint about an RV campsite that was supposedly "dog friendly" but then you weren't supposed to walk your dog there. So stupid!!

  13. That is weird. We have stayed at many a Red Roof Inn and they have always been very dog friendly. I wonder if that sign applied to people who weren't guests? Usually they have pointed out the area that they want us to use for the dogs when we checked in or asked. I like RR the best of many because they have the outside entrance to each room which makes it much easier with dogs. Too bad about the odd sign.
