2014 tournament of roses parade

dogs were featured on several floats in this year's rose parade but the two that stood out to me were the beverly hills pet care foundation & the lucy pet foundation. the pet care foundation is "dedicated to the rescue, care, spay/neuter and adoption of homeless pets" and "the goal of the lucy pet foundation is to have spay/neuter and adoption mobile clinics in every major city in the country." all the dogs that were featured on lucy's float were all shelter dogs. they were all performing tricks and having the time of their lives! also on lucy's float was daniel, the miracle beagle mix that was put into an alabama gas chamber along with 17 other dogs, and somehow survived! can you believe the barbaric gas chamber is still legal in 31 of our united states?!? (more on the lucy pet foundation float)

  1. The gas chambers are horrible, but the people who breed/buy/discard/refuse to sterilize those animals are the REAL horror. It is so easy, so available, and often at no or very little expense. Bug and her kitty cat, Spider, were both sterilized the same day at the Humane Society. She was four months and Spider was three months. They shared a carrier so they would not be scared and all alone in the world in a scary place. They both got their shots the same day. Altogether, I paid less than one hundred and twenty dollars for one neuter and one spay surgery, two sets of shots complete with tags and new collars, and the staff loved on my Bug while she came out of anesthesia, keeping her warm and safe.
Bailey, I send you sugars and ear rubs!

  2. Only a barbarian could push the button to destroy an animal. IMHO these people should be spayed or neutered. I volunteer

  5. I have all my stray cats sprayed and neutered. So far have about 15 done and no kittens here in over three years. Of course stray kittens do show up from time to time, but we take them right away and also they get shots. It's easy when they are kittens once they grow up it's more difficult but my son and I still manage to trap them and take them.
You look so pretty Bailey in your red sweater.
