portland trip, part deux

daughter #1 flew up from monterey and i flew up from the los angeles area and we met in portland. our flights landed within an hour of each other which worked out perfectly!

our first stop was to hit a coffee shop (thank goodness daughter #1 is a coffee person too!). we stopped in at blue kangaroo, an independent coffee roaster and had their signature blend, the sundog.

they are dog friendly, but they prefer those with their canines companions in tow, to sit on the side of their building where there happens to be a fire hydrant, some lawn and a bowl of water.

we also hit the portland saturday market, an art show right on the
willamette river. (the willamette river flows right into the columbia river!)

my sneaky daughter caught me taking a picture

oh, did you notice the water fountain right next to me? those are benson bubblers and they are all over the city! aren't they cool?

we were driving down the street when we saw this gondola above us. we went to investigate ...

... and ended up taking the aerial tram for a ride, which totally freaked me out, but i put on my big girl panties and endured it.

ok, it's pretty up here, but it's still freaking me out. ugh, the things we do for our children :)

hello down there!

this thing travels 3,300 linear feet, goes 22 mph and when it gets to the middle it sways pretty good! the tram operator even warns you to hold on. (again a freak out moment.)

apparently, when in portland, voodoo doughnuts is a must have.

to be continued ...

until we meet again my friends-

Love the pic of mini with the dog sign :)
We have something in common, I am freaked by hights too - I would have been totally screaming like a maniac by the time I reached the top of there - sooo embarrassing!

  5. When my mom was flying she loved long Portland layovers. I've never been but have only heard great things about it! I would need Mom to take me along, though, and not flat Emma!
