a few days ago, facebook reminded me of what bailey looked like in 2011. this was taken just 4 months after we rescued her. when we found her she was emaciated and weighed only 3.3 pounds. we don't know what she'd been through in her short life but you can see in her eyes, it wasn't good. her eyes tell it all. i don't know who could have treated her so poorly. it makes me sad and it makes me angry.
but today she is a healthy 4.4 pounds and the sadness has long left her eyes. she is our little princess and has everything a proper princess could ever need or want. and most importantly, she is loved.
until we meet again my friends-
It always makes me angry and sad too, when I see dogs who've been neglected and mistreated. But I'm SO grateful there are wonderful people like you in the world to give them homes and show them what love is like. And dogs, bless them, always return that love!
ReplyDeleteOMG, those eyes! Such a lucky girl :) I just adopted my niece's chihuahua. She got her 11 years ago when in college, then as so often happens, her mother (my sister) somehow ended up with her after niece graduated. My sister didn't want her, and the poor thing lived out on the glassed-in sunporch with no pretty much no attention for years until last Christmas. When I was visiting there and saw how much weight the poor little thing had lost, I just couldn't stand it any more. She was really suffering from loneliness and looked so frail and skeletal. She has been here about a month, and has already gained about a pound back, looks sooooo much better, and has her sass back! I even renamed her, and she will have a great life from here on out...
ReplyDeleteThe way your blog displays on my computer, the previous photo posted of Bailey is right below the current one. It makes it easy to compare the photos. What a difference you've made in Bailey's life! Whatever she went through, she's a survivor and so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, you can really see da difference luv makes!
