before we found the beautiful prince of a park in temecula, we had to kiss a couple of frogs.
frog #1: this sad park was crickets dog park in encinitas. the big dog side had lawn and shaded benches for people. there were quite a few people with their german shepherd sized dogs there. we had high hopes until we turned the corner and saw the little dog area. it didn't have dirt or grass, it had indoor/outdoor carpet to give the appearance of grass!!!
frog #2: this one was sunset dog park in san marcos. it was attached to a beautiful people park; lush and green, lots of trees, lots of room. there was a couple of very overweight dachshunds on their way out when we got there, so we had this barren park to ourselves. we stayed only long enough to take this picture, then we were on our way.
i had only mapped out three dog parks for our weekend getaway, so with two strikes against us, we would either strike out or we could hit a home run with our next stop in temecula; and as you saw on my october 5th post, it was a grand slam!
until we meet again my friends-
I don't think I would take even a squirrel to those two parks. Well maybe a squirrel but I would not want to go myself.

I know, it is a sad state of dog parks sometimes. I guess they don't have volunteers to help manage the place. I am glad you found a good one in the end!
ReplyDeleteThose sure are big dog parks but we don't like getting dusty dirty. You sure had quite the adventure

Sweet! Glad you finally found a decent one! We've never been to a bark park.
ReplyDeleteWhat? fake grass for the little dogs and the real stuff for the big ones? not fair!!

That first one with indoor/outdoor carpet was pitiful. Glad you found a good one!
