unzipped and tethered

when i have bailey in her stroller, i usually have her zipped in like this. she is free to move around and can't fall out because she is completely enclosed. the other day i wondered how she would react if she were not zipped in but tethered instead. i had a typing project, yes i still type BOL, so i thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give it a try. i put her in, hooked her up with the two safety tethers, left the canopy open and the mesh panel down. she behaved very well and sat very patiently until i was done typing. the tethers restrict her movement quite a bit so i won't be doing it often but it's good to know she was ok with it.

"hey mommy, i see a box from chewy sitting on the chair behind me. can we open it? i've been a really good girl and i think i deserve it."

staying safe & sound in the stroller

sometimes putting bailey in her playpen just isn't convenient. if i'm in the kitchen or dining room it's fine, but when i'm in a different part of the house, i'm not gonna leave her all alone in the dining room. so we pulled out her stroller. it's much smaller and portable. i put her little bed in there along with a fluffy blankie. if she falls in there, she can't tumble, like she can in the playpen.

she wasn't too happy about being in there at first, but she soon understood that's where she had to be while i was busy doing stuff i needed to get done, like decking the halls with boughs of holly. if you watch the video with the sound on, you can hear aoife in the background trying to get my attention. i guess that makes this monday mischief video a double whammy. BOL

practice makes (nearly) perfect

it has been a while since bailey's been in her stroller. like 2 years! we haven't needed it. but yesterday we wanted to go to an antique faire ... where dogs are not allowed ... unless they are contained. ok, so we have to reteach her what the stroller is and what we expect of her.

"can i come out now?"

saturday we took her to the bike path we have near our home. she was pretty good and only whined a little. we kept telling her that is where she needed to be and we kept walking.

"how 'bout now?"

the practice on saturday paid off because yesterday she was nearly perfect. i was afraid she would go into hysterics and cause a scene. thankfully that did not happen. she whined a little and she scratched a little but all in all she was pretty good. yay!

"ok, i've been in here for like 87 hours!"

after we left the faire, we headed to jack in the box to get her favorite meal - a breakfast jack, no cheese. actually we only give her the egg. we give the bread to the birds and the ham goes into hubby's sandwich. BOL

the doggie stroller

sunday we went to the long beach antique & collectible flea market (with bailey!) and she rode in her, ok don't laugh, doggie stroller. technically it's not her stroller. i bought it for my kibbles in her final stage of life, so actually, bailey inherited it. it was her first trip in the stroller and she was, surprisingly, very well behaved. i really wasn't sure what to expect because she does NOT like to be in a carrier. i put her cozy blankie in it and i think she enjoyed the royal treatment of being pushed around for the two hours it took to go through the show.
