burn baby burn

every so often i like to write a post about a fun project that we've done around the house. like the clothesline project or our linen closet makeover. since i don't write a diy blog, i stick bailey in a couple of the pictures and it ends up here. BOL. also, this way my folks can see what we've been up to over here. this is such a post.

we have two fireplaces in our home: a decent one and an ugly one. this is about our ugly one. it is a small gas log burning fireplace. it was dingy, the single line of flame barely put out any heat, it was off center and i finally just got fed up with it. ok, time to update.

"let's go shopping!"

this is our sort of before picture. it had old lava rock on the bottom but i forgot to take the picture before hubby removed it.

hubby took out the log burner and replaced it with a glass burner.

we ordered some fire glass ...

... and bailey supervised as hubby poured it in the fireplace.

voila! just a few hours later, we have a brand new look to our old brick fireplace. the glass burner gives us more flames and more warmth than the log burner. we should have done this ages ago.

until we meet again my friends-
