believe it or not, bailey is not sweet and innocent 100% of the time. she can, on occasion, get a little feisty. case in point: here she is, happy as a clam on hubby's lap, but when aoife starts to get near...

her sweet little face turns into this face which is accompanied by a gremlin-like growl which then escalates into a piercing scream. BOL

a day at the park

a few days ago, we had a lovely time at the park. we did a little hiking (very little) and a lot of resting. our visit started off with a horse walking right in front of us!

bailey says that's enough walking. it was time to relax in the shade of the tree and just enjoy the nature that surrounded us.

this is what happens when i don't have a treat in hand. bailey gets distracted and looks away. aoife, on the other hand, is super focused and will pretty much hold a pose until i get the shot i need :)

the better to hear you with, my dear

have you ever taken a picture of one thing but ended up with another? well this is one of those times for me. when i was editing some pictures of bailey, i noticed a something growing out of her head! apparently aoife was sitting directly behind her which made it look like either she was growing a second set of ears or she was sprouting antlers! BOL.

big bones

on aoife's last vet visit she weighted in at 13.4# and now she thinks she's too heavy to be carried. she thinks she needs to be rollled around on a dolly! we told her that she is not heavy, she's just big boned :) she has been on a strict diet & exercise program for some time now and initially lost 1/2# but it stopped there.

bailey thought the dolly idea sounded pretty good so here she is asking if she could be rolled around on it too!

now they see it, now they don't

bailey eagerly anticipates the treat being held in my hand, while aoife, though totally focused on my hand, shows some great self-control.

you can totally tell by the girls faces, when i am showing them a treat, and when i'm not. top pic, they see it - bottom pic, they don't. BOL

appearances can be deceiving

to see bailey standing with her head held low and her normally curly tail, pointing south, you'd think she was having a bout of depression. but don't worry, this is how she lets me know she's had enough outside time and she just wants to go back inside the house. why does she stand in a total depressed posture? i dunno! BOL

when i ask her if she wants to go inside, she perks up and happily heads towards the door.

how does a 4 pound chihuahua stay warm?

yesterday is rained and it was cold. it was cold all day. it was cold all night. bailey was not pleased.
why am i posting a picture of a blanket, you ask?

well let me peel back a corner and show you.

IT"S BAILEY! having the radiant heater on is not good enough, she needs to tunnel under the blanket too! BOL

bailey is bowing her head in prayer for those that were affected by yesterday's tragedy in boston. join her in a moment of silence for those that lost their lives, for the injured and for all of their families.

hubby was dangling her toy above her head and she was just about to jump for it.

i see beautiful

hello everyone. today i thought i'd join in on see beautiful's blog hop with some pictures from my garden.

i'd first like to share mothra! this moth measures 2 full inches! i had to put the ruler next to it so you can get the full impact if it's enormity. i think it's both creepy and beautiful at the same time.

secondly is my first rose of the season! my rose bush is full of buds but this is the first one to begin the bloom.

thirdly, as katharine hepburn said in stage door, "the calla lilies are in bloom again."

and of course i always see beautiful in my little girl's face...

even when she jumps for the treat in my hand and messes up the shot. BOL

honey, i shrunk the dog

hubby was preparing his truck for work, so i thought i'd take bailey outside to snap a couple of pictures. geez, how tiny does she look in the driver's seat? sometimes i forget just how teeny she is. she looks like wayne szalinski shrunk her with his electromagnetic shrink ray! i can just hear him, "honey, i shrunk the dog!" BOL

rip annette funicello

i was very saddened to hear about the passing of annette funicello yesterday. she was loved by many and will be missed by all. this little doggie is from the annette's pets line of the annette funicello bear company. i found it at an antique store several years ago and it has been sitting in my home ever since.

the locket has her picture and "autograph".

bailey thought the doggie was her new toy so she just wanted to play with it. i kept telling her it's "mommy's toy" and to be careful with it! i had a bit of trouble getting her to focus on the camera...

but i eventually got a shot that i was pleased with.

i think aoife is such a cutie. she is full of personality and her face is so expressive. ok so maybe i'm a little biased. after all, she is my one and only grand doggie. but come on, just look at that face!

ups brought the girls a delivery just as i was beginning to feel like old mother hubbard.

old mother hubbard went to the cupboard,
to fetch her poor dog a bone.
but when she got there, her cupboard was bare,
and so the poor dog had none :(

ok, i'm exaggerating a little, but you get my point. i think this haul should last a while.
