teeth cleaning day

last month when i took bailey to the vet for her tummy troubles, he suggested i bring her back for a teeth cleaning. her breath had been getting a little stinky, so i knew she was due. so like a responsible dog mommy, i took her to get her teeth cleaned & polished. they even gave her a fluoride treatment. unfortunately during the cleaning, they found a molar that had to be removed. when i got her home, i wrapped her in a blankie and she slept the entire day. she woke up for a soft lunch and dinner but then went right back to sleep. she had an exhausting morning, but once she got home, there was nothing but peace and quiet.

make no bones about it

long beach (california) has the coolest bike racks of any city i've seen. we found this one in the shape of a bone in belmont shore. of course i had to tether bailey for a quick pic.

the long and short of it

saturday we attended the so cal pet expo in long beach, ca. everyone was ooh-ing and aah-ing at bailey. "look at the little chihuahua!" "omg, look how tiny!" she caused such a commotion. but when i put her next to this guy all of a sudden there was a crowd around us and everyone was taking their picture! i felt like i had a little celebrity at the end of the leash!
of course bailey was the smallest dog at the expo and i think this guy must have been the biggest!

taking a picture with a great dane was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and bailey wouldn't stay still. this is the best picture i could get. bailey's never seen another dog as big as this guy and she was very fidgety. hence, the blurry bailey.

pet lovers license plate

it's here! months and months and months ago, like back in 2012, i ordered the pet lovers license plate for hubby in memory of our original pound puppy, kibbles (pictured), that we lost in january of 2010.

the dmv had to reach a pre-order of 7500 plates before it could even go into production and i am proud to say i was one of those 7500 people on the waiting list. the artwork was done by pierce brosnan (did you know he is an artist?) and proceeds from the plate go to provide funding for no- or low-cost spay and neuter programs throughout the state.

it took a looong time, but it was worth the wait and now hubby can show his love for animals everywhere he goes.
