happy father's day

happy father's day to my hubby, my daddy and (even though he is no longer with us) my grandpa!
these 3 men exemplify what it is to be a man and to be a dad. i especially thank them all for showing my daughters how a man should treat a woman and i love them all for that. if my girls find a man that is 1/2 the man these men are, they will be a-ok.

self service dog wash

while up in carmel, daughter #1 took us to a pet shop called pet food express because in this store, there is a pet wash.

you insert your $15 token and dial the shampoo you want to wash fido with. choices here were orange peel oil, oatmeal/aloe vera or mango tango. after you wash fido, turn the dial to #4 to rinse and then to #5 to blow dry. total wash time is 25 minutes and they supply an apron to protect your clothes from splashes.

have you ever taken your dog to a self serve pet wash?

unfortunately for me, they are only located in the northern part of cali. i wouldn't use the pet wash, because i wash bailey in my kitchen sink, but i liked the store and the products they carry.

"got dirt ... we have a self service pet wash"

oops, i didn't take a picture of bailey at the store, so here she is pondering whatever it is that doggies ponder about :)

coffee w/ bailey: the carmel coffee house

>

down a little corridor, off of ocean avenue, you will find the carmel coffee house. carmel is full of corridors with hidden treasures down each one!

you can sit indoors or, if weather permits, out on their little patio. i was so excited to go here because last year for christmas, daughter #1 gave me a bag of their coffee and a mug with their adorable logo. now i can say i've been there!

they roast their coffee onsight in their red probat.

of course bailey never sits on the floor. she's always a lap dog.

cypress inn and mission ranch

while visiting the monterey peninsula, we HAD to stop in at the cypress inn. it is a super-duper dog friendly hot spot in carmel-by-the-sea. have you heard about it? let me give you a clue as to who owns it. take a look at the poster behind me . . . yep, it's doris day! (love her)

did you notice i am indoors, at the bar, with my dog? yes, dogs are allowed in the bar, in the restaurant, in the hotel, in the lounge, just about everywhere! we were not confined to only the patio area. and it doesn't matter what size dog you have either. there were small, medium and large dogs everywhere; and all were relatively well behaved. i think i only heard a couple of barks, and yes, one of them was aoife. that was the only mischief here.

beautiful & welcoming entryway

terry's lounge is named after her son.

haha, get it? please don't eat the daisies.

next time we are in town, we are staying here for sure.

oh, and we also passed by clint eastwood's mission ranch. it is a sprawling 22 acre resort. there was no way i could photograph the whole thing so here is just a teeny taste.

ya, those are sheep, living the high life with dirty harry himself.

old fisherman's wharf

we visited the old fisherman's wharf in monterey last weekend. there is so much history there. we had a blast.

"hey, can you see me? here i am!"

santa rosalia is the patron saint of the italian fishermen in monterey.

a fishing boat on it's way out to sea.

"the fisherman" by jesse corsaut is a tribute to those who made a living from the riches of the sea.

bailey is not really sure what to think about this place. it's nothing like home! "toto, i've a feeling we're not in kansas any more."

what is aoife looking at? a pile of barking sea lions!
